BRIEF BIO OF LEVI
Levi was middle son of Jacob and Leah. The well known Bible fact was the supplanter, later known as Israel, was deeply not in love with Leah, but instead with his other wife, Rachel.
Because of the psychological drama of all this, the writer believes that this had a big impression on the 6 children of Jacob and Leah, as two of them, Levi and Simeon were rebellious murderers who sold the youngest son, Joseph into Eqyptian slavery
(PS Deep Pondering? ..Shades of Dr. Philistine…)
Main Fact: Levi later to become the head of the priestly tribe of Levi.
Here are the cold facts in Overview Outline Time Saving Form:
Levi was the third child born of 6 to Leah and Jacob.
As the middle child, Levi probably learned to be more outspoken to make himself heard.
And the writer wonders if Levi grew up in search of his own personal identity as psychologists have long noticed that there is definitely something about the middle child birth order which makes many children in that position fight the need to be heard, noticed and to find the ways to stand out between the first born and the youngest.
Young Levi was reared in the household atmosphere of the loveless union between his very plain, unattractive, deemed as second rate by her husband, Leah and the historically Bible described as majorly deceptive but blessed father, Jacob, whom the Bible tells actually intentionally deceived his father, by pretending to be his elder brother, Esau, so that he could get his brother’s birthright.
Levi’s rejected mother, surely envied her rival, the preferred Rachel, and her low sense of self worth, probably suppressed deep anger, could have interfered with her ability to rear her children in a secure, well nurtured, genuinely happy and positive emotionally well environment.
The marital home roots produced by the union of Jacob and Leah would have been far from perfect and would have certainly did not mentored their progeny in the secure, warm, loving, restful environment similar to an albeit middle eastern, Ward and June Cleaver safe happy, emotionally stable, loving, mutually respectful, mutually submitted, environment.
