2. Galatians 5:22-23: These verses list the fruit of the Spirit, including self-control. These are not mere traits that we must strive for on our own; they are the result of the Holy Spirit’s work in us. When we walk in the Spirit, we naturally bear this fruit. To grow in self-control, we must allow the Holy Spirit to cultivate these qualities in us through prayer, meditation on the Word, and submission to His leading.

Self-Government Through the Holy Spirit: Holy Spirit self-government means living in accordance with the guidance and conviction of the Spirit, resisting the temptation to be led by fleshly desires or external pressures. Resembling James 3:18 & Isaiah 11:2-3:

• James 3:18 (KJV): “And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.”
  This verse highlights that self-control results in peace, not only for us but also for others. Self-control is essential in creating harmony in relationships—valuing the peace that comes from God above temporary desires or reactions.

• Isaiah 11:2-3 (KJV): “And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears…”
