Book of I Samuel

The Book of I Samuel paints a telling story of a Levitical Patriarch, Chief of Staff of the Temple, Eli. This is a personal, up-close story, but one which has national prophetic overtones for that time period. And it also has many deep ministry leader analogies which may apply today.

CHAPTERS 1-5 Cast of Persons (“mixture” of characters)

The Senior High Priest  Eli

Hophni and Phineas :Eli’s two renegade associate pastors who are also his areawide well-known notorious  sons

Hannah, the mysterious visiting lone female who is seen without a man besides.  It is none other than the favorite,  well-beloved wife of  husband Elkanah

Elkanah : wedded husband of Hannah ..and Peninnniah

Peninniah Elkanah ‘s other wife who is in rivalrous contention with Hannah.

REASONS FOR THE RIVALRY The reason is that wife Peninniah has had many children and Hannah has had none. And because Hannah is barren and more loved by their husband, Peninniah  proceeds to make Hannah’s life unbearable. Hannah is persecuted and accused and mocked at every turn.

THE OLD TESTAMENT LEVITICAL HIGH PRIESTHOOD

The Levitical high priesthood was intended to set up and maintain a clear “set apart” ministry high standard. It was up to the overseer high priest to keep tabs on his pastoral leader staff. Eli had the God-granted capacity to discipline or remove all who did not yield to the written Holy Word of the Law.

Thus, all three Eli family priests, whether perceiving it or not, had been well-favored, singularly honored by the Lord as each one of them was bestowed the unmerited great grace to be able to stand and function in that natural yet somewhat mysterious, very supernatural quality office in that period of time.

Thus, it can be readily compared with the New Testament 5-fold offices (Book of Ephesians) in modern senior ministry today.

The Old Testament office of the chief Levitical high priest

As God’s handpicked choice and as the Temple Chief High Priest, Eli was set in the Lampstand (pastor, office of temple overseer, chief of in-House staff). The office God appointed him to was one that was very auspicious and was set to raise up a local, area-wide, righteous ministry standard

“Moreover, they (the priesthood) shall teach my people the difference between the holy and the profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.” – Ezekiel 44:23

“And that ye (high priesthood) may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean.” – Leviticus 10:10 KJV

THE STORY OPENS:

So when 1 Samuel opens, Office High Priest Eli has just taken a short break to go outside after holding temple services, offering many kinds of sacrifices and giving marriage counsel. He now needs to sit outside and lean against the temple columns. He is increasing in many years (later finally dies at 98) and by now has in his own mind “arrived” and is all knowing, jaded even cynical and weary, for he’s heard it all and seen it all by now. (so he believes!)

Eli sits in the temple sun, trying to catch a brief break from all of his counseling and official duties. But then he catches of a lone woman, far off on the steps. There is no man beside her..and Eli immediately stereotypes and recalls  the many hundreds of similar appearing women who had told them all of their trouble, who were fatiguing, his opinion ‘time wasting’ and “only ” a little church attending  “woman” ..for back in that day the men were respected far more.

And this lone woman is sobbing. She looks dysfunctional …according to Eli’s expert but far away long-term experience view. And  it was Eli’s private joy  to know to duck and avoid being trapped by female time wasters, who usually were regarded as ” complainers ” and weak…usually, these were and leader women in firey trials who claimed to need help but who usually turned out to have much baggage.

So Eli had it down to a science. Besides, he was tired and had had a grueling ministry week.

But then the lone woman, Hannah,  appears on the temple steps. He has seen Hannah before but she still “resembles the many other, prone to be problematic, highly similar…and this She  is weeping uncontrollably . Her lips are moving and Eli is quick to diagnose from afar, He accuses her (rather than rising up off with Godly compassion to find out if she is all sight. If she has an emergency maybe just been through domestic assault

Yet Eli is past his prime and is dismissive, and irritated as he did not want to be bothered, especially since it was simply a SHE…meaning: just “one more”” overly emotional,” “seen as time-wasting” ” surely complaining.”(most likely usuable, gullible, a real  victim and likely to be ” weak- willed”) ..also “troublesome” and far away, marked as “alone”  woman.

The Temple Lead Office Priest Eli’s is biased and misogynist and tolerates the well known fact that both of his associate pastors use women who come to worship at the temple on a regular basic. He knows this, and so does the entire area, but Eli is too weak to rise to confront his sons, Plus he really care as it’s “just one more leader woman” and he has more important things to do, such as take a breather, as he has a more important appointment soon with the mayor.

 

Bible:”The mouth speaks what the heart of” …(Eli’s heart)

 Eli notes the stranger on his doorstep and that  it is a woman, whom he has never seen before. Also, she is fully alone. The woman’s face is filled with pain, it is contorted,her lips are moving and her shoulders are shaking (due to her persecution and grief) But instead of Priest Eli noting her plight and saying in his heart “I wonder what’s the matter. Does she need help?”  I

Instead, Eli accuses the Her with “She’s drunk!” (“The ministry priests mouth spoke what the  heart was filled with “anti-woman , misogyny, stereotyping and  big word curse accusation)

WAS  THE MATURE TEMPLE OFFICE PRIEST A MISOGYNIST?’

1. What would Eli have done, how would he have reacted if it had been a “lone man” with shoulder shaking on the far away temple porch?
2. How would Eli have reacted had Elkanah, the husband (a  MAN) been  with HANNAH on the porch that day?

ELI’S HEART “Eli’s coming, hide your hearts now” (5 Fold Office Mean Indifferent “Tolerating it” “used to it ” “mind games” Ministry

• If Eli  truly had a heart for God, he would have also had  a holy fear of the Lord
• If Eli  valued the holy office position and high call before the Lord rather than accept and allow both of his sons (mega ministry staff) to use, abuse, and fornicate, commit adultery with attending leader. Eli failed to discipline both of his sons
• 1. women didn’t matter 2.Time consumed and too worn and weary  3. Eli’s  ego rationalization and indifference … producing highest level ministry errant compassion fatigue
• and which should the man-pleasing Eli’s abysmal lack of the Highest Eternal Perspective and the loss of First Love toward the Lord.
• If Eli had respected ALL WOMEN ‘people” ” human beings” who were made in God’s image…, like he did with d all men, wouldn’t Eli have called both of his sons  into this office…. then chastized them,  corrected them, and even set them down from the positions….WHY out love for GOD ..out of fear of the Lord,
• Eli would have risen up with moral outrage at both of sons blaspheming God’s ministry office and taken advantage of women and girls..for their own vain carnal lust.
• Ministry Fact ..as it preceded the infamous I Samuel In House Temple Cleanse ‘the Ichabod” when they were all destroyed (that and due to the love of money, abusing the offerings and using it for themselves. ..just like today)
• The Known Fact …Around the Reaction “Eli and both his sons were corrupt” However yet Eli chose to live in denial and blindness.
• The Fact Was:  that many of(usually more than 1/2 of fellowship attendees, tithe payers) of  God’s PEOPLE who happened to be WOMEN   at a given day and time.. were being devalued, used, objectified, disrespected, uses, abused and treated like a piece of property

THE ELI HOUSE FELL

APPARENTLY, GOD FINALLY BECAME FED UP…HIS GOOD HOLY LOVING NAME  was being blasphemed and GOOD PEOPLE were repeatedly entering into HIS HOUSE not realizing how they could be TARGETED and USED..and DEFILED “under HIS SAFE WELL KNOWN NAME” but by HIS OWN  among Temple Office PRIESTS. 

It was no longer the ORGANIC AND RESPECTFUL AND HOLY SANCTUARY. It had become corrupt and demonic, reprobate and not contrite.

And eventually, the Holy Father God grew weary  of watching ….and watching… and watching …SO MANY  many leader women be DISRESPECTED, DEVALUED and DEMONICALLY  DEFILED (however, in these Evil Wiccan- Ministry Times.. it might be men, boys girl, babies, trafficking potentially  also)

SO GOD “SENT”  SENT HIS OLD TESTAMENT TYPE OF “ME TOO” MOVEMENT

To Uproot the House  and to Deliver HIS MINISTRY from the “Boys Will Be Boys” sly temple office “hooked on Special Self” unbridled tough ministry

(SUMMARY OF I SAMUEL prior to that Hannah had arrived, gotten “Word curses” as “she’s a drunk” by the high priest, simply for showing up to the temple to cry before the Lord. All this in I Samuel 1 in a few seconds. However, then the Holy Spirit had come upon Eli and he prophesied powerful good things to Hannah and she had a son eventually named SAMUEL, whom she took to the temple to be mentored and Eli (so Eli had 2 natures)..but later, Eli still put up with both of his sons, his ministry team, his staff abusing WOMEN and MONEY)

SO GOD SENT HIS KINGDOM CLEANSE:

and set up a new divine move of God. He installed the first prophet in the nation of Israel SAMUEL who was Hannahs’s firstborn (miracle) son.

High Priest Eli had been the highest spiritual office in the region.  He was called and mandated by the Most Holy God to stand in the office and to represent GOD to the PEOPLE.

However, whether it was his moral weakness, fear of each of his sons, his being accustomed to having things go along as “usual”

Or maybe it was due to his advancing years, his being accustomed to being able to work “asleep at the wheel” and his experienced ability to far off typecast and cleverly stereotype to avoid relationships, that finally caught up with him.. for Eli lost his soul and his heart for the deep things of the Holy Living God..

One day, out of the blue, a nameless, faceless prophet comes to Eli unexpectedly. He gives the word of the Lord “You and each of your sons will be wiped out of the line of God’s priestly office and nobody in your family will ever sit in the office of the temple high priest again.

 

Soon after Eli seated, he is very overweight and aged 98 and he gets the news that both of his sons, Hophni and Phineas have been killed. Eli is so shocked, he falls off of the bench he is seated on and breaks his neck

The word of the Lord came true. Be it by a famous well-known TV prophet or an unknown grassroots nameless, faceless one. IT’S THE WORD OF THE LORD that matters

And this be the state of  MANY BORN AGAIN” WELP and WELM in modern Christian ministry(not to fail mention heresy occult and major control)

REASONS…It’s time for God to move and the wells have an Ishmael Mixture in certain doctrinal advanced moves.

SO WE ARE TRYING TO  SHAKE THIS UP FROM MANY REPROBATE, USING, ABUSING ACCUSING …TO UNCLOG THE INDIFFERENT MEAN MINISTRY  GOVERNMENTAL  BIASED, MERCHANDISING WELLS

So God will spare THESE, new visitors, visiting strangers and aliens, rising minister and OUR AMERICAN SWITCHED ON NATION

I submit this  as Selah a word to the wise and “only if any shoe fits, only then should anyone proceed to wear one”
